New Hard-drive, Now No Cd-rom
I HAVE JUST INSTALLED A NEW 40 GIG HARD DRIVE TO MY SECOND COMPIE, BUT AFTER INSTALLING WINDOWS 98/SE AND HAVING A CD-ROM FOR THE FIRST FEW BOOTS, MY CD-ROM HAS DISAPPEARED OFF THE WINDOWS CONTROL PANEL, BUT IT IS INSTALLED IN THE BIOS SETUP.
I HAVE NO IDEAS WHAT THE CD-ROM IS BUT I WANTED TO UPGRADE TO XP AS THAT HAS SO MANY MORE DRIVERS, (AND MY SOUND CARD AND VGA HAVE NO DRIVERS), BUT HOW CAN I DO THAT WITH NO CD-ROM INSTALLED IN WINDOWS?........ I'M NOW CRACKING UP..............

Get your hardware details - get on another computer and download the drivers. Should be it - post back if you need any help.

that's right clever, but how do i find out what hardware i have if it don't tell me in device manager(as windows is using standard drivers) and it is doing the same in system info.

i don't know anything about the second compie's insides, but i have tried looking for a name on the board but all it has is canada ices and that ain't showing up in driveguide as a board..................ahhhhhhh!
the dam cd-rom ain't got a name on neither................ahhhhhhhh!
