driver goes out three times!
The graphics card driver that I spoke of earlier this month has gone out 3 times! I now have the driver downloaded on a Zip drive for handy reinstallation, but what's making this happen, so frequently? I check for and clean out viruses and spyware almost daily, so don't think they're it. Ideas?
This is one fantastic place for questions of this kind. It has gotten me out of a few big fixes, and I am deeply indebted. Thanks!
Could this be a motherboard issue, from having lost power without power backup (3X) ? Fried a previous motherboard that way. Happen again?

What do you mean 'goes out', Does it nip down the pub for a few with it's mates? Sorry, overly sarcastic.
Do any error messages come up at startup - do any messages appear referring to your graphics card?
-
sometimes, when computer is restarted, it comes up in settings of 640/480 and 256 color as if it had only the standard Windows graphics drivers.
-
how do you get that many colours on a standard windows driver mine will only give me 16 or 2?
-
I have no idea; does anybody have an idea about why the driver does this?
-
Well, for a start it would help if we knew which graphics card it was and what driver is being used!

Have you tried using a different driver Talkingrock? If you're using an old one, try the latest version. If your using the latest one, try getting hold of a previous version. You may find that the version of the driver that you're using has a conflict with some other hardware or software in your PC.
It may well be a hardware problem though. If it's a PCI graphics card, you could try moving the card to a different slot to rule out the possibility of a dodgy PCI slot being the cause of your problem.

Its an Aopen, and you yourself directed me to the latest driver from their site to install and make it work. I put in the board model #, you ran that in Google, and directed me with the hyperlink. Go back to archives on this, at start of this year, last days of last year. Its all there. Someone else suggested a virus, but AVG keeps coming up clean.

I presume that you've updated AVG Anti-Virus with the latest virus definitions recently?
