    just my opinion

you would need to at least double your RAM which you can do.

    xp wants 256.

with an 8gig hard drive just know that xp will take more than 50% of that drive "right off the bat".

    here are your system specs:

    Compaq Presario 5441 Desktop PC

here is microsofts xp compatability tool; run it:

Description of the Windows XP Upgrade Advisor

also remember that one xp disk (product key) to one computer.
if you are using a "used" disk you will probably have to convince microsoft that the "other" computer no longer exists.

that being said; an upgrade should not alter your existing programs altho some software as well as hardware may not be compatable with xp.

    good luck

    Jephree,
Thanx for the advice. Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Been a little under the weather. Going to take your advice and keep the ME on here. This computer needs a few upgrades but otherwise it's doing ok. Just miss my XP.

And to anyone else who might read this:"This guy rocks". He's been so much help to me with my puter problems. He really knows his stuff! If your lucky he might answer one of your posts.
