MY MASTER BOOT RECORD HAS BEEN MODIFIED BY A VIRUS IS WHAT I HAVE GATHERED.I HAVE USED FREE SCANS AND FOUND CORRUPT FILES.ALSO MY COMPUTER WILL NOT RECOGNIZE MY CD DRIVE .IT SAYS I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH BOTH OF MY IDE CONTROLLERS.WHAT CAN I DO?I HAVE NO RESTORE DISK.GOT THE UNIT SECOND HAND .WHEN I GOT IT DRIVES WORKED FINE.

First of all, if you haven't already done so, download AVG Anti-Virus 6.0 Free Edition from www.grisoft.com. Install it and run a full scan on the hard disk. Let us know if it still finds any viruses on your PC.
After that, go into Windows Explorer, right-click My Computer and select Properties from the menu. Click the Devices tab. Do you see any entries with an exclamation mark next to them? What are they?
