My task manager says there's a program running in the background called 'wkufind'. whenever i try to 'end task' it - the whole computer freezes. I found the program - it's part of microsoft office's shared programs. Is there any way of stopping it from loading when i boot up? (it's not in my startup folder)

Apparently, it's an update detector for Microsoft PictureIt (part of Microsoft Works). If you have PictureIt installed, see if there's a setting (in the Options screen on the Tools menu) to stop it trying to access the Internet to check for updates.

Do you have Microsoft Office or Microsoft Works installed? Which version?
