    Hidden files won't show

    Hi,

Okay, I apparently have a bad infection(s) on my computer, and it may be preventing me from showing my hidden files using the usual steps. I have a large, blank space in that section of my Folder Options.

I'd like to know if there are any alternative methods of getting my hidden files to show, or at least if there's a way of knowing what hidden files I have. My current OS is Windows 98SE.

    Thanks.

Yeah, I've tried safe mode using the method as described in Owen's post. But there's a big white space where the option you click to show all hidden files used to be. It's no longer there. That's why I was asking if there was an alternative method. I've done a search on Google about my problem, and the best I was able to find concerning it was this other thread on DAL:

That user's problem is exactly my problem, but her OS is ME and I don't know if the methods as described there would work for my computer. I tried it out, but I got a bunch of lines that I don't understand. I don't even know if I typed out the commands properly.

For those of you having the same problem that I am, I found this site:

    http://www.mainsoft.com/kb_mainwin/kbmw0058.html

Maybe for the majority of you, downloading those 4 registry values will help. I can't import them into my own registry because something's preventing their access into the registry, but it could be helpful to the rest of you.
