    Angry stuck settings

My colors (display settings in control panel) are stuck on 16 color and the resolution is stuck at 640 x 480, and I can't get the slider to move to a higher resolution. Is there an adjustment or setting elsewhere that I can make to change the colors and resolution. Usually color is at 16 bit and res is 1024 x 768. Ideas?

Sounds very much like you have lost your graphics card drivers and it has defaulted back to the standard VGA graphics driver.

To resolve this, pop in the driver CD or floppy disk that came with your PC and run the setup program for the graphics card drivers.

If you don't have the driver disk for the graphics card and don't know how to find the drivers on the Internet, let us know exactly what PC you've got (make and model) and we might be able to help you further.

Feedback is always appreciated on this forum - please let us know how you get on

If you're not to sure of your graphics card you have.....download and run This programme.....it's safe........and it'll tell you all about your motherboard etc..

okay, I have this motherboard inspector. How do I run it? Not at all clear how to work the program. And where do I get the drivers I need?

I have downloaded and run the Lavasys inspector, and have found the standard graphics card driver. Again, where to go to fix this? Microsoft? Also,
my UPS battery is not working, so power drops drop the computer; could that mess up the drivers? Will be getting new batteries in UPS ASAP!

Have you tried via the Device Manager?

or post the details of the grapics card: i.e. make & model

sorry... i am not used to 98 but the Device Manager should be listed under System Properties

perhaps right click My Computer then click Properties then Device Manager > Display Adapters

click on your graphics card and choose to update drivers

In either case (thru everest or thru Device Manager) you should see the name of your card. If you can post that we can also search for online drivers.
