Thanks guys! 40 minutes and an install later, this screen once more shows at 1024 x 768 again! Really appreciate your help with this.

glad it worked!

I downloaded a new set of drivers on another machine and brought them over on a jumpdrive. Had to reinstall again later on, ended up getting a new video card. Have since gone to XP, and haven't had the problem since. Machine did go to a simplistic set of drivers tho, and I couldn't resolve it without getting new set on another machine and bringing them in. Once I got them in, it fixed it.

you may close this thread as soon as princess says she has it fixed.
