hi, just got adsl which is working great, but when i am connected to internet and then open MS outlook express, the connection closes and then reconnects to check for mail. surely it should just stay connected or am i missing something? i have noticed that the connect automaticallt tick box doesn't keep the tick when it connects with outlook but does (and is greyed out) with iexplorer. am i missing something?

are you sure that they are both using the same isp i had this prob when i changed over to broadband my internet explorer used the adsl and the email used the old dial up number i just uninstalled the d8ial up and evert thing has been good since then and that was last may

i deleted the dial up connection from my pc once the adsl was set up, so there is only 1 connection. just don't understand it??

How about this:

In OE go to Tools | Accounts and do the following for each mail and news account:

Double click the account.
Go to the Connection tab.
Uncheck "Always connect to this account using:".

Apparently OE can't check to see what account you are connected through, so it closes the connection and then reconnects the one you told it to use just to be safe.
