It first started out with having problems accessing web pages after clicking on links in e-mails and from web sites that I'm already on. All I get is a blank white page. Then I started having trouble doing a scan disk and defrag. Someone gave the advice that I do scan disk and defrag in Safe Mode. But my Safe Mode completely freezes up so that I can't click on anything or even use the tab key to move around. I had to improperly shut down my computer to even get out of Safe Mode. After doing that the scan disk freezes up! I am totally frustrated. Can anyone here help me?

do a scan disk from dos, do a full system scan disk also.
