I Can't Start My Pc! Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exclamation I Can't Start My Pc! Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

undefinedundefinedundefined I need help with my pc. It's telling me 2 things upon startup- as soon as my pc starts it says *Explorer has caused an error- Reinstall Windows* (I have ME/2000) then immediately after, it's followed by this error message- (not exact words) *Required .DLL file C:\windows\system\shlwapi.DLL was not found* Then the pc freezes, I use ctrl/alt/delete & see that msgrv32 is frozen. It does this every time I try to start my pc. I need help bad!!! I don't hae the Windows CD b/c it came on my pc & to get help anywhere else it costs money. I have another pc in my house, it's run by XP. I looked for the file & found it. I thought if I put the file on a disk my pc might recognize it, forgetting that if the disk isn't formatted for emergencies the pc won't recognize it as a system disk & won't start 'til I take it out. I have the factor restore CD for my pc, but if you've never created a back-up save on your pc & have as many things on your pc that I do you wouldn't want to do a full restore & destroy everything either! Please help me! You can e-mail me with answers/solitions, or just post them. Thank you.

I don't usually like doing things this way, but you could try download the DLL file you need from here and putting it into the C:\windows\system folder.

I can't, I tried that. I was just at that site. The other pc in my house isn't mine & has a pop-up blocker on it somewhere. That & I can't put anything in windows. My pc's already to the point where it won't start up at all without that file. I was hoping a boot disk from bootdisk.com would help but there's no success yet. Thanx though. You were still helpful.

Can you put in a system disk of whatever kind and get the DOS prompt up, then use DOS commands to copy the file over?

Dont know the commands though...... sorry!
