    Started with VFAT error

I hardly know where to begin. First, I'm not a computer whiz and have limited knowledge. The problem started with a VFAT error. When booting the machine, I was unable to get anything but a blue screen with the VFAT error message. Ultimately, I determined the problem to be a ifship missing file. I unsuccesfully tried numerous things to extract the file from the original windows cd rom. I then attempted to re-load windows 98 from the original cd roms provided with the computer. It seemed to initally start the re-load only to give me an error that I needed the Windows 98 upgrade. I obtained that cd-rom, however, using the 98 upgrade cd-rom results in a "CD Rom not found" error. I'm beginning to think I need to try a completely fresh install. Any suggestions or help will be appreciated.

    Thanks,
