    conflicts with removable storage devices

    Help please.
I have 3 removalble storage devices all connected to usb ports. If used individually they show up in my computer as (E).(MP3 player/camera/Archos Qdisk)Trouble is i cant have them all connected at the same time which i often need ,ie tranfserring mps files from QDisc to my player.I have to go from QDisk to a folder on desktop then unplug QDisk and plug in MP3 plyer then transfer from folder to MP3 player.(hope this all makes sense).
If i try to have them all or just 2 working together i get a frozen computer and have to re start, plus only one device shows up in the list on my computer. Is there anyway of assigning them to work happily together?
    OS Windows 98.
    any help most appreciated

    Erm.....

Don't know whether this will help but you could try it:

Plug in one of your devices. Confirm that My Computer sees it as the E: drive.

Unplug it and connect another device instead. Right-click My Computer on the desktop, select Properties from the context menu, click the Device Manager tab and double-click the entry in the list for the device that's plugged in. Go through each of the Properties screens and see if there's an option to specify a drive letter. If there is, make it the F: drive.

Click OK on everything until all of the screens close. Unplug the device and plug in the third one.

Repeat the above steps, making the third device drive G:

Keep clicking OK to save changes and close out.

    Reboot.

Does the third device now appear in My Computer as drive G: ?
If you plug in the second device at the same time, is it drive F: ?
If you plug in the first device at the same time, is it drive E: ?

Ah yes, I'm glad you came on this evening. That reminded me that I found something earlier and thought of you and your little problem-ette.

But, now that I've just looked at it in more detail, it might not be relevant to you. Take a look at this Microsoft article just in case it helps:

..... and also run Windows Update and see if there's any updated drivers for your PC relating to the motherboard, chipset or USB controller.
