Which PCI card is compatible with Packard Bell iMedia A2566NCD
I`m going crazy here, I`ve asked many people and no one knows. I`m trying to add a firewire port to my computer. Does anyone out there know what type of PCI card that`s compatible with Packard Bell iMedia A2566NCD?
The guys at the computer shop even got surprised when they found out that a normal PCI card and PCI expresscard didn`t fit, cause it says on the computer specs that it`s supposed to have 1 PCI and 2 PCI express ports. The guys at the computer shop said that the PCI cards that fits into my computer, are rare to find. And they didn`t know the name for that specific PCI card either! They left me confused, and they couldn`t give me a proper answer, cause they simply didn`t know. I bought that computer just so I could install a FireWire-port, now I guess I have to return it if I can`t find a PCI card that fits!
Answers are highly appreciated.
Thank you I.A.

Well, PCI is PCI so I sure don't know why any reputable shop would be confused.
There are "low profile" cards that electrically are the same, and use the same connector slot as normal PCI cards. They are just about half height to fit in very slim cases. But what I find on your computer suggests it is normal height. So, you should be able to buy any PCI Firewire card - hopefully you have parts source in Norway.
If you have a low profile (slim) case (no more than 4 inches wide), then look for a low profile card. If not sure, a low profile card will fit in a full size case.
Alternatively, you might consider a USB to Firewire adapter, since it appears you do have a couple USB ports. There are all sorts, including dongles.
And just to ensure no confusion, despite their similar names, PCI and PCI Express (PCIe) are two totally different, and incompatible interfaces.
