I want to put 8gb ram in my Dell laptop which currently has 4gb.

The laptop supports up to 8gb of RAM but I read somewhere that dell laptops only support
company specific memory. Is this true and does this mean that for example the ram in the link below wouldn't necessarily be compatible??

If you are looking at Corsair, use the Corsair Memory finder to find out what is compatible. Most other brands have a similar wizard.

Note you MUST be using a 64-bit operating system for anything over 4Gb.

I have 64bit

This is all I could find in the UK that's compatible, and a reasonable price. What do you think?

It looks like that will do. But not sure you will see significant improvement over 4Gb.
