So I just built a new computer and I am considering adding an SSD but I'm not very well versed in these yet. I am looking at this samsung drive Newegg.com - SAMSUNG 470 Series MZ-5PA064/US 2.5" 64GB SATA II Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
It looks like a pretty good drive for a decent price. My questions are centered around the use of the drives. It is far to small to hold all of my music/video ect files. My thought was to basically just use the SSD for my OS and use my other drives for storage. Is this what people commonly do? Will this speed up my system and is this even possible?
Im running windows 7.
That is exactly what many people are doing and yes, it will speed up your system significantly. Is this what people commonly do? Will this speed up my system and is this even possible?
OK, thanks I think I will give it a try. Do i need to store my program files on a second drive instead of the ssd as Im sure it will fill up quickly?
You need to "install" them on the second drive so the Registry is properly updates. This mean for just about EVERY install from now on, you MUST select the custom install option to make sure it goes to the secondary drive. Of course, I always recommend using the custom install anyway, to avoid extra toolbars and other stuff not needed from being foisted on your machine.Do i need to store my program files on a second drive instead of the ssd
