Post SVA LCD build-need suggestion please :D

    Hello DAL,

I got a SVA LCD Monitor, I guess it was takin' out a display case or something I was wanting to make the PC system have two monitors (geforce 7900gto with dual screen support). But my friend who tried to use it before me used the wrong adapter and blew the chip(s) they smelled burnt. I plugged it up and I got power for about a minute but then the red LED indicator wouldn't light anymore. There was 3 chip boards total. One had the monitor controls, one had the power and the VGA adapters, the other one plugged ran from the monitor to this chip, then the the power/VGA board.

    14" (two fingers=1inche, ) SVA LCD screen:

    Model: SVA150XG10TB // Rev:A
    Cell ID: 184060190212

I'm not good finding compatible hardware products for PC. What do I need to get this LCD screen working?

    Thanks much,

    3iz

I'm wanting just a small monitor for playing online video or watching video streaming while I work. Should I just buy a new or.......?

If so what the cheapest monitor?

Sounds like you need a new monitor. I would not be plugging that monitor into a good computer - you may fry the computer.

You can take the monitor to a shop, but that may not be cost effective as it sounds (and smells) like there is extensive damage.

    Thanks for replying,

I'm not plugging it into my tower until I get the new chips, it doesn't get power so that would be pointless. I just can't locate the hardware that I need for the SVA LCD screen.

    This is the LCD screen:http://cn.made-in-china.com/image/2f...B%EF%BC%89.jpg

This looks like one of the chips that burnt out: http://assets.shopjimmy.com/media/ca.../M041702_1.jpg

I can't buy the parts online?

That's not a chip, that's a PCB (printed circuit board). A "chip" is another name for an IC, or integrated circuit. The large flat device in the middle of the PCB is an IC.

It would not surprise me that you cannot find the parts on line. You might have to write to SVA, but I would not hold out much hope.

    Welp....

    Thanks for the tips.

I was looking into cheap monitors but even the small ones 10" are more than the big ones 17". But it looks like a $100 buy so I'm going to be waitin.

    thanks again,

17" are much more common, that's why they cost less.

    Good luck.

Just buy them rakes and snow shovels and have them earn their keep.
