So i was reading a friend's copy of Maximum PC today in Algebra, and i saw an article about suspending your hard-drive. It was held inside the case by two rubber bands. The hard-drive was completely free and could just dangle there. Why would you do this? And what would it help?

My first guess would be for reducing sound levels by eliminating vibration that the HDD causes which normally reverberate thought the case.
