Need help first time building gaming PC

I have a 2,500 USD budget and I already have a monitor and a keyboard and mouse I just need the rest.

I wanted to use a i7 and a good motherboard and get the most out of my money. I need to know what type of thermal paste to use and how to use it to installing the motherboard.

This is my first time building a PC but I have installed many componets and installed drivers etc.

Try this article: How to Build Gaming Computers. If you have anymore questions we will be glad to get into specifics. i like newegg.com because they are competitive and they have very powerful searches. Using what they call a power search you can specify only motherboards for an i7 processor and filter out all kinds of other particulars. What OS are you planning on using? What games are you playing? Read the article to get a good idea on what you need and get back with us.

    Hi,

I know that there is a lot you can do at Newegg. I love that place. The following example is not the end all be all, but it is something I want :P

The Arctic Silver Thermal paste is pretty good too. Also, for the OS HD, you might want to get two of the ones I listed and place them in raid 0. Or if you have the money, grab a couple of the Solid State Drives and Raid 0 them. As for storage, you can grab the Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drives - Internal Hard Drives

Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER ATCS 840 RC-840-KKN1-GP Black Aluminum ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases
    Newegg.com - ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards
    Newegg.com - EVGA 01G-P3-1180-AR GeForce GTX 285 1GB 512-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
Newegg.com - PC Power & Cooling Silencer PPCS910 910W ATX12V 2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS SILVER Certified Active PFC Power Supply Compatible with Core i7 - Power Supplies
    Newegg.com - Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops
    Newegg.com - G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ - Desktop Memory
    Newegg.com - Western Digital VelociRaptor WD3000HLFS 300GB 10000 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives
    Newegg.com - LITE-ON Black 22X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 22X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA 22X DVD Burner LightScribe Support - CD / DVD Burners
    Newegg.com - Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional 70SB088600002 7.1 Channels 24-bit 96KHz PCI Express Interface Sound Card - Sound Cards
    Newegg.com - Logitech G51 155 watts RMS 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers - Speakers
    Newegg.com - Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 120mm SSO CPU Cooler - CPU Fans & Heatsinks

Even with all of this, you will be around 2,200 more or less. The best part is that you can min max this all day. Please do your research though and don't spend your money without double checking everything and searching for deals etc.

I can make an amazing build for 1500 right now that will rock. If you take your time you can make out with a wonderful machine you will be proud of.

Best of luck to you and don't forget tp have fun with your build. :P

    Take care,
    Pystal
