Question intergrating vcr drive into computer

Hey there i'm new on here.

I am looking to do my first computer mod in a couple of months time. I hold 5 different qualifications in computers and a diploma. Although I have never actually done any modding on the electronics level, I have built many different electronic projects over the years. These include radio's, amplifiers, led pattern generators and programmable multi-tone generator (a little like a keyboard). I have a lot of experience dismantling many different device's from tv's to a control box from a car wash system, from washing machine's to an industrial laser. So i have quite a bit of experience with electronic's.

    Anyway back to the mod.

I would like to create a VCR drive.

I am using a dual core setup
    1.7 hdd capacity
    Quad SLI
    MSN 32 SLI Mobo
    4 Gig ram

I have never done any kind case modding before however I have 3 cases at my disposal to try it out.
does anyone have any idea how I might go about this ?

Not really. I briefly looked at Google and saw one VCR drive that fit a standard 5.5" bay with the VCR inserted from end to end rather than front to back.

Posters noted it required a Full Tower case and also noted it was no longer manufactured.

What is the intention if I may ask?

Why not just convert your VCR tapes to DVD?

Well im a total treky and you see for a collection of my size (2780 unique videos) convershion just is'nt practical.

I have the entire VHS cassete collection for every serias and cover release and to put it all on hdd or dvd would require close to 35 Tb and besides, as im shure you can appreciate, it's nice just being able to watch it streight from VHS
