    Re: hey guys ... need help deciding what to buy ^^

    Like I posted, Games have more to do with the GPU [graphics card] thanthe CPU but if you wanted real performance you might look at a quad core. Personally I go for AMD...I like the underdogs.

    From your post 2.8 ghz is pretty high performance for today's processors regardless of the type. Something that high is probably more along the lines of recommended system specs instead of minimum. You don't need a processor that runs as high as the P 4 did. Today's processors are more efficient than the p4 so thats why they don't need to run as fast.

    At least you didn't say that you need something that will run crysis. Well a 2.2 ghz core 2 duo does meet the crysis recommended requirements which are typically higher than the minimum requirements. The minimum is a 2.8 ghz p4. That might be what you saw. I don't know enough about intel to tell you for sure between the core 2 duo & a dual core.

    whats P 4 ?? if thats pentuim 4 u mean the dual core ??

    and yes i know most of the games are focused on GPU but even the best GPU with a bad CPU = nothing good with games ... well if u have read my games list ... you stil did not quite answer it ... whats the possible difference that they will make considering to games .. can a 2.8 ghz dual core do the same for games as a 2.8 ghz core 2 duo ?? ;D thanks for replies .. as i said i know nothing about CPu's .. u might had already answered it in ur last reply but i did not get it ...

    Pentium 4. It hasn't been too terribly used in quite some time, it is discontinued, and it is only single core. Do you know what dual core means? Basically it means 2 processors in one. Well, I'm going to bed.

    Core 2 is the name of that processor line [just like pentium is a previous line] and duo means that it has 2 cores. Maybe this will help: Intel core 2.

    okay wll now i know the basics ... here is what i summed up ... correct me if i am wrong ;
    first there was the core cpu ... then they decided to put two of these cores in 1 package ... so thats where the dual core come from ... then came the core 2 duo ... which was made to work as 2 processors ... but not 2 seperate ones like the dual .. core .. then came other staff ... we dont need to know about these

    all these talking are great but these are intel talking

    if go to page 1 and to the first post u will find that i have a game list .. if u can read it ... and tell me whats the difference between the cpu's considering those games ... if there is no difference then will the games run exactly on dual core as core 2 duo ??

    Well both the dual core and the core 2 duo contain 2 processors in one. The core 2 duo is a dual core processor. Is that clear as mud? As for which is better for gaming, I don't know how to answer you on that.

    yeah i will know both of them but i just dont know thier preformance to the game well thanks for your help ... but if any one know the difference to the gaming .. the post is still open

    Well a 2.8 ghz processor will easily out perform a 2.2 ghz.
