specs help on my first build

Just to clarify/verify:
You already have a case; PSU; CPU; & Graphics Card?
If so then yes that RAM should work on that board.
That board appears to be only SATA I (or 1.5Gb/s) so that drive at SATA II (or 3.0Gb/s) will need to be jumpered down to SATA I.
Most drives have such a jumper but that is one thing to verify.

the book, under the heading "onboard serial ata" states 150 MBps xfer rate..is that what your referring to? if so how do i jumper the drive down as i have never heard of that...and is this a big problem?
and yes i have case, psu and g card
the cpu is this one

That board is SATA I (150 MBps xfer rate) and that drive is SATA II (300 MBps xfer rate).
That board BIOS will not "see" a SATA II drive unless it is "jumpered down" to SATA I. So it would be a problem as it would not work.
As almost all new SATA drives are SATA II most all of them have this jumper but I would verify that your chosen drive does have it.
I will look up that hard drive when I get a bit more time tonight.

Here is WD's page on that drive:
WD Caviar Blue 500 GB SATA Hard Drives ( WD5000AAJS )
My red circle should be the jumper I am talking about:

True SATA I drives are very hard to find. Newegg lists only one:
Newegg.com - Western Digital Raptor WD740ADFD 74GB 10000 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 1.5Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives
As I said I assume that pic shows the jumper but I have not yet verified this via documentation.

ok i looked on the hd and it said to use pin 5 and 6 to jumper it down to 150....so thats done and this is the link to the exact hd i have..
Western Digital Caviar SE16 Hard Drive - WD5000KSRTL - Buy.com
and did you see the cpu i left will that work with this board?
-
bummer thought i had a super good board but i guess ill shoot for a better board next time i build.....

how will i know if i need the latest bios and do i need to make a bootable floppy to get those bios?
-
One main reason a BIOS is updated is for new CPU types.
That boards highest type is 6xxx and you are using 631 so there is a possibility you might need to update. It depends on what BIOS the board currently has.
Floppy is the usual method. In that download there should be a "READ ME" file that should contain all the instructions.
