Re: specs help on my first build
Forgot: How will you know? The board will not boot.
You would need a lower class CPU in order to update should you need to.
-
lower class cpu..meaning put something crappy in there to get it to work update and replace the cpu?
-
Yes.
But no harm trying it out first. If it is a new board the latest BIOS was probably put on it.
That last BIOS was 2005.
-
yea this board was never fired up.....it was just bought
-
It probably has the last BIOS then.
-
well then maybe ill get some luck then and that processor will work
-
so with the information i have givin you is this gonna be a fairly fast puter?
and after i finally get it runnin i may try over clocking for the first time...
-
It should be fine. It is very similar to the one I am using for general work and the internet.
The "slowest part" is that motherboard but again it is almost like mine here.
184 pin DDR RAM. The current standard is either 240 pin DDR2 or DDR3.
And again the SATA I vs SATA II.
Did you ever say what graphics card you have?
Also check your mobo manual for overclocking. Mine has "automatic" settings for the CPU and is set at 20% over so my 3.2 is running at 3.52.
