You can get some good deals with ASUS, but there are less expensive brands (or no-name) notebooks out there.

ASUS has a reputation for being a manufacturer of quality computer products. If you want to know about a specific ASUS product, what I do is enter into Google the make, model number, and the word "review" - then see what others (preferably professional review sites) with experience with that specific device have to say. Note that happy users don't complain so don't put a whole lot of stock in user reviews, unless there are many and they are all complaining about the same 1 or 2 things.

It's hard for anyone here to just review Asus laptops in general, so it might work better if you actually have a specific model in mind and ask if members here have used it or not.

While I understand that it's your personal opinion that Asus laptops are the cheapest, people might get turned off by that statement because it borders along the line of "fanboyism".

I agree with dig's advice on happy users. It won't be too unlikely to find a large number of people praising a laptop in a forum and while that may make you feel good about the laptop, you'd want (if possible) an unbiased opinion.
