    transfering a windows install hdd to a new mb

    hi guys i just got a new asus mobo and new intel cpu. this is my first time that i had to transfer an already windows install hdd to a new mobo. is there anything other than registering windows that i need to do to get my pc going. and do i need to call microsoft to register windows or can i do it over internet i got a laptop with internet connection.

    I am hardly any help with Windows baseballfan, but I'll try. I think the only issue is going to be the license, and not running XP anymore for a while, I seem to remember you can do it over the phone. Also when you boot up there might be a lot of Windows detects new hardware screens where you will have to install drivers for whatever is different. I know XP imprints itself on the mobo for microsoft, and I don't know for sure how the heck it may react.

    thanks for your reply, i got it all going man, i had to do a windows xp repair and that seems to help before i repair it wouldn't let me do anything i try calling microsoft on the phone but it got me frustrated, so i did a repair of windows and that worked i got windows and my pc going right now. thanks anyways
