what type of logic gate does a joystick use

There are many logic gates that are used to create this piece of hardware. Manufacters try to stick to one or two (AND or NAND gates), but they can't do it all and there are various others that could have been used.

The basic one's are -
AND
OR
NOT

Then there's variations (including combinations of them) -
NAND
NOR
XOR
