    All I know is that it's in the Compaq Presario 6000 Desktop PC Series.

    Is there not a label on it somewhere? Side? Back? Bottom? There should be.

    The motherboard: Product 0784h: was widely used in many models circa 2002.

    From searching that motherboard I see nothing above a Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.00GHz

    Most I see are actually under that.

    Just from the motherboard # alone I cannot find a CPU list from Compaq.

    You would also need a BIOS upgrade most likely. The CPU would need to match the stepping signature as well: x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 4

    That's about all I can find without a specific model ID.
