Moving pictorial & music from intenal to external HD

Hi. (I suppose adding an external HD is upgrading)?

As title implies, I have added an external HD.
The first thing I did was make folders and sub-folders, then I dragged some photo's to there new location. When I opened my photo editing program there where no pics, so I imported them back to my photo editing program. When I tried to open previously edited pics I got the message "can't find file". So I had to reconnect them. (This is going to take a long time). Also, all of the pics moved from the C: drive, (internal HD) to the D: drive, (external HD) and reconnected to the editing program have been returned back to the C: drive.

How do I move my photo's, videos, and music from my C; drive to my D; drive so they can still be seen by the editing software, but not moved back to the C: drive?

If my rambling doesn't make sense, please don't hesitate to ask questions.
    All help greatly received.

    ATB Gary.

    Sounds like the software's problem.

    What is the software?

For photo editing I use either, "Windows photo gallery", or "Adobe photoshop".

I don't know if I have the time to research this tonight but you should find Photoshop/Adobe put a folder in your "My Pictures" under C:

You might try moving this folder to D:

Then also move the files and folders via the programs rather than via Windows.

Software like Adobe use their own file types.

Anyway just a quick late night thought.
