    That raises the question:

Are two 7600GT in SLi better than one 8800GTX or 9800?

This one site says one 8800GTX is better than two 7600:

In this case, a single GeForce 8800 GTX is able to outdo two GeForce 7900 GT cards under SLI and is also faster than Radeon X1950 XTX. A single GeForce 8800 GTS card is also able to perform faster than the Radeon X1950XTX Crossfire setup.

In my opinion the 8800GTX is still the best card on the market. The 9000 series provide both less graphics memory as well as a slower bus.

    The 8800GTX 768MB series are currently running @ $350.

2GB of board RAM should be all you need.

    The motherboard: yes.

The question would be the PSU.

You need two dedicated 6 pin lines for each 8800 GTX.

And at least 500 watts for one or 700 watts for two.
