Front USB Pins and Motherboard Location Info
I have a generic case here with 2 front usb ports, there are 4 wires coming from each of the 2 front usb ports, they are marked
+5
-D
+D
Ground
The motherboard I am wanting to hook these pins up to (Gigabyte 7VM400M-RZ) shows the front usb port diagram but I am not 100% sure on how to hook it up and didn’t want to risk it and fry something so thought I would ask here first.
The motherboard book shows each of the 2 usb connector spots as having 10 pins
1&2 show power
3 usb Dx-
4 USB Dy-
5 USB Dx+
6 USB Dy+
7&8 Ground
9 (no pin)
10 NC
Not sure where my 4 case pins go on these 10 motherboard spots, maybe the +5 to 1 or 2, the –d to 3 or 4, the +d to5 or 6 and the ground to 7 or 8
Not sure what the differences are between dx and dy (the case pins only say -d or +d not dx or dy) and overall just didn’t want to mess something up.
I have 2 front usb ports both that have these 4 wires listed above and 2 of these motherboard 10 pin areas to hook them up into.
If anyone has any info on which I should put where please let me know.

If it helps at all here is my motherboard manual (page 17) shows the pin assignment and layout for the usb on the motherboard.

That board supports 4 front panel USB on two channels.
Set one of your connections to F_USB1 (lower 4 pins) and one to F_USB2 (lower 4 pins).
Some cases and or card readers use the dual 9/10 pin setup where the tenth pin is a blank.
Pin 1 is power which equates to +5
If you have individual wires rather than a block then:
+5 ====== pin 1
-D ====== pin 3
+D ====== pin 5
Ground === pin 7

Thanks on that, just wasnt sure and didnt wanna fry something...both front usb wire groups are individual pins so ill run them along the bottom rows on each motherboard header in that sequence.
Powered down, hooked up, powered up, put motherboard cd in to load usb 2 drivers, rebooted, both front usb ports now fly at usb 2.0
