Re: What's the best gaming rig for @ $800
If you want to get it all together than that looks like a decent hardware package.
I am not a fan of either Dell nor Vista nor pre-built computers so my personal opinion would be a bit skewed.
That being said the hardware appears to be quite good and a good price as well.

Here's what I got (minus the OS originally mentioned):
Ultra XBlaster Mid-Tower case (free bundle deal)
Ultra 750w X2 Power Supply (64.01)
XFX nForce 680i LT Socket 775 MoBo (96.27)
Intel Core 2 Quad 6700 2.66Ghz CPU (280.82)
CoolMaster Hyper TX2 CPU Fan (29.99)
Corsair TWINX 2048MB PC6400 800Mhz E.P.P. (68.78 - $40 rebate = 28.78)
EVGA GeForce 9600GT Superclocked 512MB PCIe (179.99)
Hitachi 320GB SATA HD (64.54)
Sony DRU190A 20X DVD Burner (29.08)
(2) Masscool 120mm Ball Bearing Case Fans (19.98)
That's my rig for under $800 ($794.46)!

Looks good.
Did you build it yet?

I just got the parts today (ordered Friday) but am getting the OS (XP Pro 64 bit) later in the week
- I'm dying to get this rig up & going. I might even buy Crysis for it (just to see how it runs).

I'd suggest the Orange Box and Bioshock before Crysis unless you can afford them all.
I use XP 64 on my gaming machine. Most games will run in 32 bit mode.
As to drivers make sure you get the 64 bit drivers for your hardware.
Let us know how it goes or if we can help further.
