Have you tried the mic on both front and rear ports?

If it works rear but not front you might want to switch that front speaker wire to the AC'97.

These are the latest drivers for your board:

    Mainboards > EVGA 780i SLI > Windows XP > 9.46_nforce_winxp_english_whql.exe

Do not know what version was on your CD.

    Reinstalling wouldn't hurt.

Also note that many audio drivers are updated and often corrupted by Windows Update.

Reinstalling on top of the update usually works. This is often the case with HD audio.

I reinstalled the newest drivers. I still have yellow ? for USB controller. I tried both front/back nothing. when I go and test hardware to see if my mic is working it can't hear me so, it fails. Do I have plug the AC'97 where I have the Audio connector at on my MB?

That was only an idea if only the front jack was out. That connector is only for the front case jacks.

EVGA has forums for their products. I am browsing the 780i forum for your issues. You can browse as well.

Also sign up and ask questions there if you want:
