Vista vs XP Pro...duo core vs quad core?
I am a gamer and thats whats I build my computers to. So, I have been told (but would like DAL input since you guys are very good at what you guys suggest) that Vista is better for gamers vs XP and that duo core is also much better vs quad core. I was told that quad core is more for someone that is doing videos, photo projects vs someone that is a gamer. Is that true? The same goes for Vista vs XP, Vista is better for gamers. Anyone have some good opinion on both subjects? Thanks

I have one machine built exclusively for gaming.
I chose: quad core; XP 64 bit; dual 8800GTX/SLi; 4GB RAM
As to quad core the motherboard has a lot to say here too. Not all quad core ready motherboards are all that ready. This needs to be reviewed if you consider quad core.
Vista offers DirectX 10 which XP cannot. There are rumors of a DirectX 9 upgrade to XP but rumors are rumors.
Vista also has many versions at many prices. Unless you are ready to spend for the Ultimate edition many features may be lacking.
Also verify that all your hardware is Vista ready. Also note that if you go to 64 bit it is hard to find some software and drivers. I only use 64 bit for gaming.
Also note that many older games may not work on such a system.
