Supported CPU
CPU Socket Type AM2
CPU Type Athlon 64 X2 / Athlon 64 FX / Athlon 64
FSB 1000MHz Hyper Transport (2000 MT/s)
I don't know much about AMD but the FX looks like their top of the line:

If you are referring to future processors I don't know. I would imagine that they would not change the socket type but there are other factors such as the FSB and the power requirements.
Intel quad core, for example, require an 8 pin power line rather than the traditional 4 pin.

Gotcha. Here is CPU that I am looking at:

Here is what I am running now and will this be a much better or good upgrade? If so, I would like this up and coming computer that I am putting together I want to last for 2 years I guess. What do u think?

I really don't think it is much of an difference if you just upgrade the HP.
That is a decent computer.
As mentioned you can go up to an Intel Core Duo 6600 and either an 8600 graphics card if not a 8800.
You can also find faster RAM.
If you upgrade the HP in this way I think it would be very similar to the new build you are considering.
Then maybe in two years you could build a whole new system.

I think I will do that and later build a new one. Can you find a processor at newegg that will go in my computer now. I have 500 watt power supply so, I think I should be good there. Thanks again.
One big issue with this computer is that how do I put more fans in?
Check the top two cpu and tell me if either would work?

The first should work. HP states the 6000 series Core Duo are compatible.
I'd forgotten that they brought out the 6850. The previous best was 6600.

That box comes with a stock heatsink/fan. You can get a custom cooler but I don't know how it will fit. Some HP's have internal "duct-work" that might have to be removed.

That looks good. Just make sure you have that room in the case.
I use liquid cooling myself but I don't know if you want to go there.
