CHECK YOUR SOURCE. I also have an HP dv8000 laptop, and it DOES NOT take DDR2. it only supports a maximum of 2 gig of standard DDR memory. you try and put DDR2 into that and you will mess stuff up. Also, your socket type is socket 754, it will work with any socket 754 processor. and unfortunatly, they do not make dual core processors for socket 754. I believe the single core athlon 64 4000+ single core processor is the fastest you can get for that socket type and its not a mobile processor so i wouldnt recomend it. the oldest amd socket type that supports dual cores is 939.
