    Angry New Computer build problem

    Need Help,

This is my first new build. MOBO ASUS P5KC, E6600 dual core processor, 2 gig Kingston memory, 600 tharmaltake ps, graphic card, new thermaltake case, all new components.

I installed everything, booted a couple of times, than the computer would shut down by itself. I pushed the power button on and would get to the bios, and would shut down. went through this a couple of times.

Was looking for information on my other computer, then i heard a little pop from the new system, now i can't get it to boot, now power absolutily dead.

Question, where do i go from here?

Are you saying the PSU is dead?

If so that is the first thing to change. Perhaps there is a reset or a fuse.

Also verify the power is good coming from the wall (or wherever).

I'm not getting power from anything. I don't know if i've fried the mobo, psu, cpu, and memory?

Do you have power where the PSU is plugged in?

The wall? The power strip? etc.

If yes do you have power at the PSU?

    Light? Fan?

If no then the PSU is not working. Without a PSU nothing else will work.

If the PSU has no reset feature nor a fuse and it is not working then it needs to be replaced for starters.

Yes i verified power on the surge protector, and i guess i'll have to replace the psu. I'm also worried about what other components may have bee impacted.

    Thank you for your replies.

Not much to tell without a PSU.

I doubt that anything beyond it would be damaged.

Sounds like a bad PSU. I would assume there is a warranty.

In general Thermaltake is a very good brand.

A PSU would more likely make a noise than anything else.

Especially if it coincides with a complete power failure.
