    chipset

I currently have a intel (r)82945g express chipset family installed which dosent support t&l. Is there any way around this, if not can you recommend 1 that does. Bearing in mind i have pretty much only just learned how to turn a computer on, is this something i could install myself or would i need a professional to do it for me. I have windows xp. Thank you for your time.

    What is the exact motherboard?

Although the chipset/integrated graphics may not support T & L you might be able to add a graphics card which does rather than replacing the entire motherboard.

I see a few versions but this is the basic:

    http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/...e=GA-945GZM-S2

That will take a PCI_E X 16 graphics card but will only run it at a X 4 rate.

What is it you want to do with the computer? If gaming what type of games?

Is this a pre built computer by yourself or like a Dell or HP or something?

My brother had it built for me at a shop. I'd like to be able to play allsorts of games strategy, adventure, shoot em up.I was given an old panzer phase 1game, but every time i start it this comes up. sviewport: :choose depth stencil format: no available depth-stencil format.

You might try the latest drivers for both the chipset and the VGA.

    They are here:

    http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/M...ProductID=2425

Try the chipset first and see if you can play panzer.

If not try the VGA driver.

If still no good you would need either a PCI_E card or a new motherboard.

That depends on whether you want to take apart and rebuild the whole computer or else try an inexpensive PCI_E card.

The only drawback with your current motherboard is that it can only run PCI_E X 16 @ X 4. Yet that might be better than the onboard chip.

    No problem.

    I'd suggest at the most a GForce 7 series @ 256MB

    For example from Newegg's catalog:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Force+7+series

Again your X 16 will only run at X 4 so there is no reason to get anything other than a minimum card.

    I'd suggest this range:
