Need Help Buying a Graphics Card

Well, my computer is getting older so I am in need of a new graphics card i'm currently willing to spend $300 (max) but I don't know what is compatible with my motherboard. I'm looking for a card that is eligble to run "FURY" and other games. The desktop board is a D845PESV if I left out anything please tell me and I'll try to find it.

AGP connector supporting 1.5 V 4X AGP cards

Your first upgrade should be a new motherboard. One that can handle PCI_E.

This is the best you can do if you want to retain your CPU:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138079

This has a PCI_E x16 slot for a good graphics card.

You would also need new RAM as this board is 240 pin and your current board and RAM are 184 pin.

    Something like this:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145167

    So we're at $55 + $63 = $118 leaving @ $180 for a graphics card.

    Such as these:

If your budget is $300 then:

    we're at $55 (RAM) + $63 (motherboard) = $118 leaving @ $180 for a graphics card.

Using the links in my last post.

That is the only motherboard I can find for your CPU which is also outdated but the above setup will work. If you had say $500 you could replace the CPU as well and go to higher end components.

I have this card here doing nothing

I'm not sure if its "good" or not? Saving $180 on the graphics card could mean we could get a better CPU.

That DVI card just allows you to run a DVI cable to the monitor rather than the old VGA. (I am pretty sure from the picture). In other words it is not in itself a graphics card.

The 9600 is not a bad card and you can find a new board that handles 8x.

    The latest PCI_E is 16x.

Also as mentioned new boards take 240 pin DDR2 (some now take DDR3).

Your current RAM is 184 pin.

The current Intel CPU is Socket 775 (775 pins) whereas your current one is 478 pins.

That Newegg site is good for comparing products.

Let us know if we can help further.

If i bought a x16 PCI would my 9600 still work on it?

Your 9600 is an AGP slot.

    PCI_E is a different slot.

    So no.

You can probably find an AGP motherboard if you want to keep that card.

A new CPU 775 can be had for a little over $100 so you could probably put a whole new system together for around $400 or a bit more.
