    What about this one

I would still need to get that 2 molex to one pci express power thingy tho right?

That's pretty cool! Passive heatsink cooling i.e. no fan.

And no: these smaller cards require no dedicated power supply.

You will only find that when you go up to like the first choice you had.

So that passive heatsink one will just plug into the motherboard for power?

Very cool on that, probably not a huge draw power wise but might add another case fan in or something to help move that heatsink's generated heat OUT of the unit etc.

Might just try that though here and cross fingers it works, but not powering a big old fan on it or needing to use 2 molex just to run it are probably good starts I would think...

If I were a gamer I would upgrade the psu and whatnot to add in a higher end card - but I think this one with that heat sink would probably serve my basic video needs of photoshop use / webdesign / light video editing / watching a dvd once in a while / web surfing / emails / youtube etc...

All the power for that card comes from the motherboard. There is no molex connection.

Fans are actually very low draws on the PSU. Less than a Watt per fan in general.

The cooling system on that card is similar to what most motherboards now use on the North/South Bridges. Very nice for a small card.

Humm might just order this puppy up here, seems to fit the needs probably better than the one made for hp (the geforce 7500le) which seems to have some bad press after google searching...

Best of all straight power from the MB no adaptors or loss of molex.

Guess my only concern is drivers and vista (read a few reviews on it about drivers off disc vs off website and vista issues) but hopefully I can get it runnin stable...

Seems to be talk too of it being rather large heat sink wise...might have to remove that bottom phone pci and move the top pci that is my wireless antenna input to the bottom slot, to give the heat sink room to breathe...

If I do move those pci devices and just remove the phone modem one will that cause any issues to their use?

I haven't even used this pc yet still just sitting here since I coudlnt hook up both monitors, guess I should hook one up for now and confirm everything works on it (its a refurb) before i order a video card for it...

    MSI's page:

I would leave that top PCI slot open if possible.

Well thanks for the info and advice here, tomorrow i will plug this in with one monitor mess with it for a while confirm everything is working well, then probably just order one of those cards up and cross my fingers I can get it going without too much trouble...

I also bookmarked those links on the laptop here for reference...they will no doubt come in handy when I get this card.

If I just pull that bottom phone pci card (which ill never use) and moving the internal wireless pci card (which I might use someday) and moving it to that bottom slot where the phone modem pci card (leaving the top pci slot under the pci express slot empty for room on that heat sink) is ok to do?

It won't be a big issue to do that (moving from top to bottom pci slot and just pulling the never to be used phone pci card out totally?) And once I restart it would still see / recognize the wireless pci card just in a different slot and whatnot?

Yes. Those 3 PCI slots are totally interchangeable. The cards just snap in and out. Perhaps one screw or clip at the edge where they meet the rear of the case.
