i get stop errors when recovery console finishes loading

You do not want the Recovery Console.

well this what i was talking about except i always would get stop errors if i chose not to create a recovery partition as of now its at a compaq logo with a red loading bar thats been up for a while now

its been 20 minutes same thing

you shouldve gotten a cd from ompaq that came with your computer. It should say something like 'for distribution with Compaq PC's only. Then it should say Operating System under the Compaq logo. Did you receive that with your computer?
