Re: hard drive
What exactly are you looking at? Link?
What is the make and model of your motherboard?
Did your motherboard come with a driver CD?
What does Dell have to do with this? I thought this was a computer you were/are building? Are you inferring that you are using a Dell motherboard? If so where did it come from? And again do you have the driver CD?
-
Re-reading the thread I see it is a Dell motherboard. Sorry for the confusion.
What is the exact model of the motherboard and what links have you tried?
Also was there no Dell CD?
-
there was no dell cd, reading from the writing on the mother board the dell motherboard model is:
DELL E139765
the actual dell is a dell dimension e521 (sorry for not mentioning that earlier)
i have found a list of downloads support.dell.com has, but i dont know which ones to download
-
Yes you want both those SATA drivers aka: nvidia mediashield.
-
thanks! and then eventually i will need all of those drivers?
-
Dell computers come with many options so some of those drivers depend on specific options that one chose with the Dimension E521.
You will need the drivers applicable to your particular setup: yes.
These drivers are installed after Windows is installed. In order to install Windows you just need the SATA drivers.
-
thanks for helping me man
-
so i downloaded the drivers, do i just move them to the floppy disk or install them onto the floppy disk
-
Just move them.
However you are confusing me: I thought there was no floppy drive?
I though you were going to slipstream the XP CD?
-
sorry, i found my old computer (compaq) and it is running xp, so i just decided to download the drivers onto my flash drive, move them onto my old computer, and then put them on a floppy through that computer, and then take out the floppy and put it into my new computer.
if that fails ill just slipstream it
