First off remove the odd RAM module. The 512. See if the two 1GB work.

If you have 4 slots they need to be in alternating slots. The new RAM might not be compatible with the old. If you have dual channel that is why the 512 is bringing down to 1GB to its own level.

If you still have problems go back to the old graphics card. Only add one piece at a time till you know that each one works.

You should not have needed to reinstall XP but if it was a corrupt install you may now need to do it all again. If so install it on the old hardware (or a configuration you know that works) first. Then add the new stuff one at a time.

Another consideration is you may have gone beyond the limits of the PSU in which case you would need to replace that.

If you need to you buy a new one and put it where the old one is.

I would try everything else first.

It is the Power Supply Unit.

With more RAM and that larger Graphics card you are going to draw more Watts but yours maybe fine. It was just a thought.

    Try fixing eveything else first.
