i have this HD that works if i put it alone it the master palce.
then i try the other HDs that wouldn't start up in the slave place.
some of the HD works and some didn't. there error like can not find any o/s in any drive and unable access to the drive.
the HD you want to boot from MUST be set as master, plugged in at the END of the ribbon cable
If you can boot from a HD on 1 computer, and you move it to another one, it will not boot because when windows is installs, it tailors it around your computer hardware....
Therefore, you MUST re-install xp with the HD in the computer that will not boot...
a good guide here
no, i have a HD that will boot if i put it the master with nothing in the slave.
but when i put other HDs in the slave it wouldn't boot: it would show cant find any o/s at any drive and cant access to the drive
oooh, so the problem is getting your computer to boot with a slave drive in??
have you checked that the jumper is across the correct pins (see the manual or label on the drive as the position varies from drive to drive)
yes i did
you could try changing the cable, it has worked for me in the past.
also, try plugging your non-os HD in the secondary slot (as master) (i.e. where your CD/DVD drive is)
ok ill try
