RAM upgrade
Hi there,
My power supply has recently become deceased, I have replaced it and it appears that it has taken the memory with it too (don't know if the motherboard has gone yet until i replace the RAM). The memory i had in it was 2gigs of pc2100 on one module - i have noticed on the web that i can get pc2700 for cheaper than i can buy pc2100.
There isn't anything to stop me putting in PC2700 is there? I'm pretty sure that the memory will only run at the speed of the processor/mboard - but just wanted to check that there wouldn't be any adverse affects?
I'd appreciate your comments, and also any advice on which is the best ram to use..
Cheers!

you can put 2700 in as you say it will only run as fast as processor.
are you sure it's the RAM, have you tried it in another machine?

Cheers, I thought as much.
Honestly - no i am not sure. The only other machine i have won't take this ram. I tried it in a family members at weekend, but it just didn't start up - no beeps or anything. I am pretty sure it is the RAM as i had a few problems which pointed to the RAM before my PSU went - however that could've been the M'board failing aswell... I am at a loss.
The way i've been thinking is if i buy 1GB of Ram and i still have the same problem, then i'll have 3gigs of RAM to go on my NEW motherboard...

your 3gigs of RAM might not work on your New motherboard you know? certain motherboards don't allow RAMs of diff speed to run together. so you might want to consider that before you buy the new RAM. lol.
Peace~
