Re: Questions about RAM and Graphics card upgrade

Due to a standard of "backward compatibility" most, if not all, 8X cards are 8X/4X.

Whether or not these games will play on a 4X level I do not know. I would say the latest games probably would not.

The web site for the game should have the minimum requirements. If they specifically require an 8X card then your motherboard just can't do it.

Another consideration is the RAM of the card. Most new cards are 64MB or 128MB or 256MB. Again the game requirements for this should be listed with the game.

    WoW for example:

    Windows® System 2000/XP OS:
Intel Pentium® IV 1.5 GHz or AMD XP 1500+ MHz
    1024 MB RAM
64 MB 3D graphics card with Hardware Transform and Lighting, such as NVIDIA® GeForce™ FX 5700 class card or above
    Broadband Internet connection
    Two-button scroll-wheel mouse

Will a 4X level work for this game?

I am just showing Newegg as they offer a good selection. I don't know if they are available in your area:

I would not suggest that. That is going back to 4X/2X. Plus the "All In Wonder" is unnecessary unless you are looking for TV or Video input to your computer.

I would look more at my last link to NewEgg.

Clicking on the Manufacturer's Product Page is about the most detail you can get. The above for example:

    http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l...53&modelmenu=1

    and:

    http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?m...l1=2&l2=7&l3=0

If you put a specific card into a Google search you might get more reviews and details.

Thanks for the help I have one last question which one would you suggest?

Thats 113$ or lower and is the most bang for your buck? If I pick a card Ill probably pick some random crappy one for 112$ when there is a 10x better one for 98$.
