I'm having trouble with a general upgrade. I've got a amd 64x2 3800+ dual processor, with 1gb ddr dimm ram and an asrock ALIVENF6G-DVI Skt AM2 Nvidia NF6100-430 onboard 256MB shared VGA 8 channel audio mATX mobo. The first question I have are all these compatible with each other as I have installed them all and the mobo does not come on as I have no beeps. The hardrive and cpu fan work ok but no life from the mobo. I have stripped the board and started from scratch but still no joy. If I have done something wrong with my install, has anyone any tips of how the install should be done as to not damage any components on install. As my pc is an old dell machine, the new mobo board does not have the same front panel connector as the old mobo did, has anyone got an idea as to how to get around this problem too? hello folks

So you've tried powering it up with only the motherboard, processor and fan connected and nothing else? Is there an LED on the motherboard and, if so, does this light up when you switch on the power?

Are you getting no beeps because the system speaker isn't properly connected?! That's a particularly common mistake!
