This motherboard okay?
Ok well i was initially going to upgrade my old computer with a new CPU and Hard-Drive however now that i think about it, i think ive stretched the old 478 socket far enough. And so ive decided i will probably just buy a new motherboard and transistion some of my existing parts (IDE 40G HDD, 1024mb 3200 RAM,9600AGP) over to the new motherboard. I was wondering if these parts are able to go on this board:

it says it has DDR support and an AGP and PCI-e slots with IDE controllers also. I was just wondering whats the best possible processor for this board and also about the compatability with my old parts stated above. Also if any of you know a better board that i can still use my old parts on and is around $130 ($AUS) then id be glad to consider any recommendations.
Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Your hard disk, memory and graphics card will run fine on that board (assuming that your 1GB DDR400 RAM isn't made up of more than 2 modules). It would appear that that motherboard will support right up to the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processors. Nice

well, just a reminder, but remember to GROUND YOURSELF! lol. i have a friend that got too anxious, and fried his board cause he forgot to ground himself.
just in case you don't know, you can ground yourself by touching the inside of your CPU casing. the steel part.
happy building

There's a good article in the Computer Help Articles section of the forum all about the many ways in which you can help to avoid ElectroStatic Discharge (ESD)
