Crashes don't depend on speed, but do depend on the overall system and hardware health, quality and what you use the system for.

It all depends. On $moneyŁ available or willing to spend, what your requirements are, what you use it for and do most on it

So let us know this and we can make some useful suggestions

what are the overall specs of the computer?

    HD size?
    Memory (RAM)
Motherboard make+model (this is needed to find out what CPU is compatible)

it may be easier, cheaper and better to increase the RAM and clean up the HD...

your HD doesnt seem to be cluttered, i would upgrade the memory (replace one... or both of those 128mb with 256 mb and you should notice a better performance)
