I need help finding a motherboard

One of my good friends gave me his old computer but with the problem that the motherboard doesn't work anymore so I have to buy another one. Trouble is, I can't find one that is compatible with the stuff that I have

My processor is a AMD 2800 (This has to match with a socket 757?)
    And i'm using Corsair memory.

    CMX512-2700C2PT, 512MB
The previous computer had two of theses.

Please help me out by finding a motherboard that will work!
    Thanks in advance!

You will need to positively ID that CPU. AMD made the 2800 as both socket A as well as socket 754.

Socket 754 is a CPU socket originally developed by AMD to succeed its powerful Athlon XP platform (Socket 462, also referred to as Socket A). Socket 754 was the first socket developed by AMD to support their new consumer version of the 64 bit microprocessor family known as AMD64.
What was the make and model of the old board?

This is a good site for comparing and exploring motherboards:

WOW, just when I lost all hope! Thanks a whole bunch, I'm checking with my friend to see if that available motherboard is compatible with the stuff he gave me.

    Thanks again!

    Another question if I may...

What do I have to make sure is compatible with the new motherboard before I buy it?
I already know that I have to match the memory and the processor; is there anything else?

The old board was a standard ATX so in order to fit the case you would want that rather than say a Micro ATX.

The old board had AGP 8X so if you are going to use the same Graphics Card make sure the new board has AGP 8X. Some new boards only have PCI_E which means you would need a PCI_E card.

But all that being said getting a new Socket A board will probably have the older components.

I can't say for certain but I doubt that Socket A boards are being built for the latest hardware.

In other words you should be fine.

Whats the difference between Micro ATX and standard ATX?
I bought a new case so i'm wondering if that makes a difference?

    thanks for your help!
