Which card is better ATI or Nvidia?

Currently I'm looking at buying either an nvidia geforce fx 5700 le or an nvidia geforce 6200 I can't decide which. Which is better?

and on the ATI side I need something with at least 128mb agp graphics preferrably with a tv-out or tv encoder.

I've read reviews on the 6200 and it looks like the best all the new games support it I want it to be verstatile so I can run intense games like gtasa call of duty need for speed carbon stuff like that but I don't know of it's gaming capabilitly.

I've never had an ATI card I always use nvida but I might be switching

Thanks for any info. you can provide.

I think nVidia, nVidia drivers are more stable than AVI! And how bits are both?

I have used ATI, Matrox and others for years. I started using nVidia perhaps 2 years ago.

I have had more problems with ATI than any other kind of board. The latest hassle involved an infinite loop error caused by an ATI driver that caused repeated, and random, reboots. The system would be stable for a week and then reboot four times in a day. The problem often occurred while surfing, but not always.

My wife is working from home and this is her main machine. It really does not look good to keep telling clients that the computer just crashed and that you will have to call them back once you have recovered.

After perhaps two months of grief I fixed that problem with a new nVidia 7300 GS board. The picture is sharp and very good. This board is excellent for most things, but not serious gaming; if I had wanted that I would have paid another $100. The machine has not had a blue screen since this board went in.

Some of my older ATI cards were plagued with driver issues. One card with a TV display would never come up quite right, despite my trying over a half dozen drivers, all designed for that board. I got the picture working for the most part but not entirely right, and not easily.

The ATI site claims that certain ASUS MoBos have a timing issue that overclocks the board. That does not explain the number of postings about the same problem involving boards from other companies.

In start contrast to the problems I have had with ATI over the years, the nVidia cards I have used just seem to work.

PS - AMD has bought ATI. Hopefully they will eliminate many of these problems. If not, the inclusion of ATI video on the CPU may be the best thing that ever happened to Intel.

i personally would think the Geforce7300 would be better than the 6200, as in Malaysia the price don't differ that much and the 7300's performance is alot better.

in my opinion, i think that for single core cards, and if you're not running on SLI, i'd pick ATI. i used to use an ATI card and it worked perfectly fine, but i mainly only used it for gaming and such, no overclocking whatsoever.

however like what they've said, nVidia DOES release drivers alot faster. and at times, newer games do require having the updated drivers. i once tried Chaos Theory and the new drivers changed the performance radically.

i guess it's personal preference. but if you're in no hurry, maybe hold on to what you're using for now. as the nVidia 8 series is launching, and ATI if i'm not wrong is rumoured to release a new batch next year. called AMD Radeon i think, instead of ATI Radeon. lol.

i'd seriously recommend waiting for the new batch cause prices will drop alot. unless you're in a big hurry... then 7300 i guess. i'm not really sure about the ATI cards that's launched this year. i'm kinda looking forward to them after AMD bought them over. lol.

p.s. imagine if Intel buys nVid. woa.

Well, if Intel buys nVidia we will have a conflict. I like AMD and I like nVidia.

If the graphics chips are going to be built into the processor, or if the processor will be optimized for a particular graphics chip, then I would be have to foresake either AMD or nVidia. That is not a happy choice.

I have had so many issues with ATI drivers that this last problem is probably the last for me, as far as ATI is concerned. You should not have to go to their site monthly to download the latest drivers.

yeah same here. i've heard that nVidia runs great on AMD boards. don't have the budget to try that out myself though. i used to be a huge fan of ATI, back when they first had 9800XT Pro. but been disappointed by their overall performance lately and switched to nVid.

just hope that since now that' AMD bought them over... they'll improve.
